Narrator bio
Alya Lei is a SAG-AFTRA actor, improviser, and audiobook narrator with a lifelong love of reading. At the age of three, Alya immigrated from Hong Kong to a small suburb in Northern California, where the Asian population was minimal. This experience fostered her connection with stories of resilience and positive transformation, such as "The Secret Garden." Initially an avid reader of fiction, Alya recently discovered a love for non-fiction self-development books that inspire personal growth and enrichment.
An idealist and feminist at heart, Alya believes that anyone who identifies as female can be and do anything they want. Alya is particularly drawn to narratives featuring strong, multifaceted, misfit female characters with spunk and sass, set in worlds of humor, fantasy, adventure and romance, like the "Outlander" series.
As a SAG-AFTRA actor and improviser, Alya has co-starred in notable roles opposite Sarah Goldberg on HBO’s "Barry" (directed by Bill Hader), Tricia Helfer on Fox’s "Lucifer," and Steven Weber on Netflix’s "13 Reasons Why." Alya has honed her improvisation skills at the Groundlings and the Upright Citizens Brigade (UCB) and showcased her talents of leadership, organization and imagination by producing and performing with her international improv troupe, Freefall International, on Zoom during the pandemic.
When Alya is not acting, improvising, reading/narrating, or hosting her podcast “Conversations with Alya Lei” - you can find her passed out in a hammock with a margarita in hand…just kidding!! Well…not entirely!! Alya does love communing with sea life (aka snorkeling), hiking adventures and hanging out at the beach.
With her unique blend of optimism, humor, charm, fun and emotional connection, Alya ensures each narration is entertaining, compelling and heartfelt.

Alya is available to work both in studio (local hire in Los Angeles) and in her home studio.
